How to drag and drop to/from network drives

The drag and drop feature is just what we were looking for, because it's not dependent on OS version or direction. However, once connected via Easy Transfer cable, a laptop and desktop computer only see each others "C" drive. Our target is a network file share on our file server. Is there a way for the laptop to 'see' anything besides the desktop "C" drive?

    did you figure it out? i have same problem 7 years later. the cable only sees C; files.
