synchronize folders hangs

I set up the IMAP server and the account tested successfully. But when I try to get email it can't seem to synchronize the subscribed folders. It starts off and then makes no further progress, predicting a longer and longer time for completion.

I found the same problem. (Outlook 2010)
I tried to restart it a couple of times and got the same thing. I just let it go and eventually after about an hour it did complete the process.
Thereafter it only takes about 15 sec to sync when I do A SEND/RECEIEVE.
