One Drive full failure during sync

During the sync process I got a popup message that One Drive was full and synching would fail. Well, it did complete though there were errors. When I look at the files in File Explorer, many of them have a status of error (I guess, a red circle with an X in it). I haven't checked all files but the ones I have checked seem to be ok in spite of that red circle status indicator. Why does this process use One Drive and is the fact that I transferred a large number of files (via synching) to the new PC somehow causing problems with One Drive? How do I clear the status in File Explorer?
